About the role: 

The Port & Rail team is currently seeking a Operator to join them on a 7 Days on, 7 Nights on, 14 Days off Roster based at Port Hedland. Reporting to the Supervisor, you will be responsible for inspections, clean-up, equipment operation ensuring all work undertaken is to high quality and safety standard.  

 
Duties: 

  • Completing safe and effective inspections of allocated operational areas, including conveyors, chutes, transfer points, stackers, reclaimers, car dumper, screenhouse and wharf areas. 
  • Monitoring equipment condition and reporting defects, hazards and abnormal conditions in a timely manner. 
  • Supporting safe and efficient inloading, stockyard and outloading activities. 
  • Responding to operational alarms, stoppages and production issues as directed. 
  • Carrying out SAP inspections, raising notifications where required and completing accurate handovers. 
  • Following all relevant procedures, work instructions, risk assessments and safe systems of work. 
  • Actively participating in pre-starts, PSIs, safety interactions and hazard reporting. 
  • Contributing to continuous improvement opportunities across the Port operation. 

 

About You:

  • Takes ownership of their work and supports the success of the wider team. 

 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Current WA Manual Drivers License 
  • Ability to obtain Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) 
  • Experience in similar Port Operations role – Ship berthing, ship departures, shiploader, stacking, reclaimer and car dumper operations 
  • Control room experience 
  • Trade Qualification and machinery licenses desirable
